Professor Pedro Sauer

STERLING, Va. – Professor Pedro Sauer is a 8th Degree Red and Black Belt under the legendary Rickson Gracie.  Currently, he owns his own academy in Sterling, Va.  Professor Sauer is famous for taking a fight against Mr. Utah body builder, Lance Bachelor.   This was a classic match up between a smaller Gracie jiu-jitsu fighter (150 pounds) vs. a larger opponent (250 pounds).  This fight occurred in 1994.  Lance Bachelor issued a challenge to Professor Sauer.  Without even seeing his opponent, Professor Sauer accepted the challenge.  The fight was held, and Professor Sauer won via armbar submission.

Professor Sauer regularly holds training camps in the D.C. metro area.  His biggest event was hosting a Rickson Gracie seminar.  Pedro also teaches at Jeff Gordon’s academy in Maryland and he is a strong proponent of teaching the self defense aspects of Gracie jiu-jitsu.  If you ever get to meet Pedro, you’ll see that he is a class act.  Pedro travels regularly, but you can keep up with him on his blog.  Below are some pictures from his academy.  One interesting display that he has are all of his belts, from white to red and black.
